Flower Basket SVG Project

Updated: Mar 9, 2021

A flower basket made with cardstock perfect for Mother's Day!

You know, I'm always fascinated by those who can draw and paint... I don't have great drawing skills, I mean freehand drawing: if you give me paper and pencil, I can do a lot of doodles and abstract things, and that's it.

Before I create every project, I always make a draft just to put some ideas on my board.

In the case of this basket, this is the draft:

... (you can see that I don't know how to draw, right? haha)

I immediately thought of this project as a gift for Mom, and it had to come out in late March, early for Mother's day in May, except that I discovered that in some places in the world, such as in the UK, Mother's day is actually now in March!

So I wanted to anticipate this release, and in the project, you will find the written version "Mom" and "Mum", because I also found that "Mum" is more commonly used in the UK. How many things do you discover by drawing SVG designs? It's very interesting!

The project is quite easy to make; the only part that requires more concentration is weaving the paper just like you would with a basket. Of course, the tutorial video guides you in all steps.

It's not a very fast project, especially because the flowers take some time. They are flowers made with multiple levels and not the fast spiral ones, so for the ten flowers, I counted a time spent of 1 hour.

For the vertical explosion, it's necessary to repeat the closing and opening procedure a few times to give the shape and make the movement more fluid.

Again, in this project, I looked for versatility.

This project can be done exactly as proposed, or only the "basket" box, bows, flowers, and writings can also be used separately to create other projects.

I had a lot of fun creating it, and while projects often take different forms from the original ideas, I have to say this is exactly how I came up with it.

Supplies:

- A cutting machine

- Colored cardstock (weight 65/80 lb cover)

- hot glue, tacky glue

Hope you like it!
